Johanna M. Costigan is a junior fellow in technology at the Asia Society Policy Institute's Center for China Analysis. Her research and writing focuses on modern Chinese history and the intersection between technology and daily life in contemporary China. She has an MSc in Contemporary Chinese Studies from the University of Oxford and graduated from Bard College with majors in Written Arts and Chinese language and literature.
