Kate Bubacz joins Rest of World as Head of Visuals
Bubacz previously edited visual content at The Wall Street Journal and BuzzFeed News.
Rest of World is excited to share that Kate Bubacz will be our new Head of Visuals.
Kate comes to us from the Wall Street Journal, where she served as the Lead Visual Content Editor. Kate impressed us with an expansive and thoughtful portfolio of work. Most recently, she led the Journal’s 2024 election coverage. Before that, she worked with the paper’s foreign bureaus, covering historic flooding in Brazil, cartel operations in Mexico and human trafficking in Myanmar.
Prior to her stint at the Journal, Kate spent almost 7 years at BuzzFeed News, where she led the photo department, edited a column on photography, and spearheaded groundbreaking reporting projects on topics ranging from Standing Rock to the Colorado River drought. During this time, Kate produced a phenomenal volume of stellar work — coordinating hundreds of assignments a year. We were impressed by her flexibility, ingenuity, and entrepreneurial spirit: between all of her other work at BuzzFeed, she also launched a highly successful and profitable celebrity portrait series for the publication.
At Rest of World, Kate will be in charge of our visual approach for all our stories, stretching from daily coverage, to features and packages.
Please join us in congratulating Kate on her new role. We look forward to seeing everything she’ll accomplish here!
